Release Notes

Summary

This release adds a few bug fixes to the 2.5 release. No changes in any collectors or notifiers.

Recap of 2.5

The main goal behind this release is to remove some unnecessarily complex functionality to the way agents are 'registered'/referenced. It also contain some minor fixes for other parts.

Breaking changes

From this version onwards the Monitor pack only store the directory path where all agent dll's/assemblies are stored. All the assemblies in the directory that has the proper interface implemented get loaded at run time.
Detail view windows now display the name of the collector to help identify which window is which if you have multiple of them open.
Because of these changes previous version assemblies will not be compatible with monitor packs saved by the new version. When loading an old version monitor pack into the new version editor it will be 'upgraded' automatically the next time it is saved.

These changes required the core interfaces to change and thus all current collectors and notifiers have been set to version 2.5 - which indicates the minimum version of the shared components required to use them.

Upgrading

Safest option for upgrading is backing up your previous monitor pack files (.qmconfig) (and the service config file) and then install the new MSI.
The new MSI will automatically remove previous version assemblies in the default locations but if for some reason you had copies of them at other locations you will have to remove them manually.

Using the old version side-by side

If for some reason you must still use an old version while having the new version install simply make a copy of all assemblies (of that old version) and place them all in the same custom directory - separate from the new version. You will have to be very careful though by not mixing the monitor pack files of the different versions or opening/editing them with the wrong version executable.
